Service Description

Take a break from yoga this summer holiday, and use the opportunity to try something new! Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Like yoga, qigong combines slow, considered movement with a calm, steady breath. It's very graceful and soothing, plus it has the advantage that it's done from standing - so no getting up and down! We'll be taking a look at the Baduanjin - more commonly known as the Eight Brocades, or Eight Pieces of Silk - which is a form of medical qigong, designed to promote better health and wellness. Over FOUR sessions we'll be learning the moves, building stamina and looking at the theory of the Chinese medicine system behind it. This course is suitable for all abilities. Dates: 29th Jul; 5th, 12th & 26th Aug
